The Hawaii Pacific
Energy Group (HPEG) has been involved in renewable energy
systems since its formation. It is active in the research and
development of biofuels, waste-to-energy, and other renewable
and alternative energy
projects in
southeast and eastern Asia, Central America, and throughout the Pacific
islands. The company is dedicated to the advancement of
several
leading edge renewable energy technolgies that include the development
Pongamia
seed oil-derived biofuel and the state-of-the-art
waste-to-energy
involving the
EnvirOcycler thermal reduction-oxidation technology.
Who
we are
HPEG is a registered Hawaii-based renewable energy and socio-economic development, consulting, and engineering firm formed in 2005 to bring together a number of experts, engineers, and economists to develop alternative energy and subsidiary projects with the express purpose of increasing local renewable energy resources, improving the environment, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and so providing benefits to socio-economically challenged communities. Where feasible, rural and socio-economic development sub-projects are included to further enhance benefits to the project's target communities through holistic development. ![]() Assisting villagers to develop a pongamia plantation Current flagship project: Pongamia seed oil-derived biofuel HPEG is actively working to advance the development of Pongamia seed oil-derived biofuels in Hawaii, Belize, Cambodia, and the Philippines. The aim of these projects is to provide improved rural incomes in communities experiencingf economic disparities, particularly in areas of damaged soil cover. Thus local economies are enhanced while improving the soil nutrient content and environment, reducing the dependency on fossil fuels, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

mission to benefit communities
As our mission, renewable energy project development is always designed and managed by HPEG to create both direct and indirect socio-economic benefits to project communities. To meet this mandate, the team engages the services of highly skilled consultants, engineers, economists, and other experts, each of whom is a specialist in their respective fields of expertise in the renewable energy sectors. The consultants and experts who are retained for project implementation are also supplemented with those who provide expertise in implementing subsidiary projects to improve the economies and the quality of life of the project beneficiary communities. These experts can include rural development engineers, irrigation, and farm-to-market road engineers, water resources management engineers, capacity-building and institutional strengthening experts, agricultural extension workers, community development specialists, sociologists, health workers, and economists. HPEG will also engage specific consultants, as required, where particular community needs are to be addressed as part of our engagement with project beneficiaries. Building relationships with
renewable energy technology providers
HPEG’s strong relations with major biofuels, waste-to-energy, and other renewable and alternative energy technology providers permits us to access expertise, equipment, hardware, and specific technologies in a timely manner for any of the projects. In order to acquire energy technologies and infrastructure without the often prolonged, three- to five-year waiting period, the team has formed strategic partnerships that give it the ability to implement renewable energy projects anywhere in the world comparatively quickly. Our ability to provide the EnvirOcycler waste-to-energy technology also allows the team to assist communities with solid waste management to reduce or eliminate landfills, greenhouse gas emissions, waste-related community health issues, and the use of expensive, imported fossil fuels. Current projects being advanced include several developments for local government and private clients in Southeast Asia, Central America, and Hawaii. A Pongamia seed oil-derived biofuel development is in the planning stages for Hawaii and Belize. The team provides consulting services and provides EPC contracts for other renewable energy developers. |
